Polymer Soil Stabilization: How It Works

In 2025, Midwest Industrial Supply, Inc. celebrated its 50th anniversary. Its flagship stabilization product, Soil-Sement® Engineered Formula, is based on polymer chemistry studied at the molecular level.

Two Options… Until Now

For a road, the choice was between asphalt or concrete paving, costly and often overengineered for low-traffic roads, and traditional stabilization methods that are rigid, brittle and carbon-intensive.

What Happens in the Soil

Once sprayed and mixed into the soil, the emulsion forms very long polymer chains, up to a million molecules, compared with 100 to 1,000 for traditional binders. These chains intertwine and bind every soil and aggregate grain into a dense matrix that is stronger, more durable and more flexible.

Benefits on the Road

Increased load-bearing capacity as soon as it sets; resistance to water and moisture in every season; resistance to erosion, potholes and deformation; fine dust control; no leaching into surrounding vegetation or wildlife. All at a lower life-cycle cost than traditional methods.
