Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between stabilization and paving?

Asphalt or concrete paving adds a costly layer, often over-engineered for low-traffic roads. Polymer stabilization treats the in-place soil: the polymer coats and binds every grain into a dense, strong, durable and flexible matrix.

Do we need to import aggregate?

No. Soil-Sement® Engineered Formula uses only in-place soils. In Senegal, 30 cm of existing soil was reworked with no imported material.

How does the soil analysis work?

Sampling, gradation, Atterberg limits and CBR testing: the laboratory qualifies the in-place soil so the right treatment can be selected. The feasibility study is delivered within 15 days.

Which soil types can be treated?

The polymer depends neither on clay nor on a chemical reaction. On fine A-3 sands where cement failed, CBR rose from 2 to 35; in Senegal the project treated fat clay, caliche and good soil.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the project. A Midwest example: about 27 km of access roads and 6.5 ha of laydown yards stabilized in 21 days. The surface provides load-bearing capacity as soon as it cures.
